Happy Groundhog Day!

Seems like I've been hitting the politics a little hard lately, so let me move on to a truly important subject. Since the mid-1980's Groundhog Day has been a highlight on my calendar. My college roommate and I both have birthdays in the first two weeks of February, and it seemed only fitting that we should celebrate together. Kind of like President's Day for both Washington and Linclon. Anyway, the proximity of the already popular Groundhog Day just seems to be a perfect fit.

So, in case you haven't heard, here is the official proclamation from the only true Groundhog Day groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil at his official website.

Phil's official forecast as read 2/2/08 at sunrise at Gobbler's Knob:

Here Ye! Here Ye! Here Ye!

On Gobbler's Knob on this fabolous Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2008 Punxsutawney Phil, the Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators, Rose to the call of President Bill Cooper and greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths.

After casting a weathered eye toward thousands of his faithful followers, Phil consulted with President Cooper and directed him to the appropriate scroll, which proclaimed:

"As I look around me, a bright sky I see, and a shadow beside me. Six more weeks of winter it will be!"
So Happy Groundhog Day everyone.

And yes, I've already sent Bob a Groundhog Day e-card.
